Dr Brown is a senior diagnostician with over 20 years experience. His commitment to “getting it right” and his willingness to do almost anything to save original teeth has earned him many accolades from his patients. A huge bonus is that Dr Brown uses his expertise to prevent big problems from ever happening. He is also Clinical Director of the out of hours emergencies service in Chesterfield and is proud to say that few of his patients ever need to use the service.
“Welcome to our practice where we look forward to providing a high quality service and a commitment to preventive dental care.
In dentistry prevention is always better than cure and protecting your teeth minimises the amount of dental treatment you should need. So we’re placing great emphasis on preventive care, working closely with you to protect your teeth
Our experience shows that the preventive approach to dentistry that Denplan promotes complements our own practice preventive care philosophy and so we actively encourage people to make the most of the Denplan System.”
I was brought up in New Mills and met my wife at New Mills School so it’s great to be able to live and work near our families in the area we love and send our own two children to school here in Buxton. Most weekends finds us walking or mountain biking in this beautiful countryside.
I went into dentistry partly because my Dad’s a dentist and 20 years down the road I am glad that I am still able to develop my skills and enjoy keeping up with all the changes. Technology and materials science has moved on so much in 20 years that nearly every day brings a new challenge and, quite often a new way to meet it".
Dr Eric Easson BDS(VU Manc) MFGDP (UK)
Eric qualified at Manchester Dental School in 2001 and on graduation was awarded the Academy of Operative Dentistry Award and Overseas Research Elective Prize. In 2003, he went back to University but this time as a teacher of final year dental students and still holds an Honorary Clinical Teaching Fellow position there. In 2004 he was elected as a full member of the Academy of Operative Dentistry and attends international conferences held by the Academy. In 2005 he gained the prestigious (and difficult to attain) MFGDP (UK) examination from the Royal College of Surgeons.
Eric has worked exclusively in private practice since 2004 in Sale, Macclesfield and Bramhall. He also teaches for a session a week at Manchester University, and is in Buxton on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
In his spare time Eric is a big fan of cycling and motorcycling, competing in national events and travelling as far away as the USA for events.
"I love dentistry because it is so rewarding to see a patient's oral health improving over a series of visits. I know it can be a tense time for people especially if they haven't been for a while and I am very careful to make people feel at ease.
The great thing about my job is that my teaching practice allows me to keep right at the forefront of new technology. Dentistry is constantly changing and I attend as many courses as possible to develop new skills and techniques. It keeps the job interesting and helps me to ensure that our patients have access to the best of modern dentistry."
Dr Oliver Ratcliffe BChD U Leeds
Dr Ratcliffe joined us at the Broad Walk Practice in 2007 after completing his Vocational Training year in New Mills. During his first nine months he saw 2316 patients and all of them have been very happy with their treatment. We’re very lucky that he decided to come back to his home county and we hope this is the start of a long and happy career with us in Buxton.
“Having been raised in Buxton and Chapel-en-le-Frith it is nice to be back. I’m looking forward to a long association with the people of Buxton, helping them to maintain and improve their oral health.”
Dr Peter Burrows BA BDS U Ncle 1990 BA
Dr Burrows started his working life as a laboratory technician. However, the pull of dentistry was so strong that he decided to go back to University again to study the subject he truly loves. He joined us in Buxton in 2001 and many children in Buxton now have straighter teeth due to his special abilities in orthodontics. He originally hails from Yorkshire, qualified in Newcastle and spent some time in Scotland, but is now happily settled here with his two children who go to local schools. He likes to go sailing in his dingy or walking and camping especially in the Lake District.
“I came late to dentistry and I have never regretted making that move. I love meeting people and helping them to solve their dental problems. Watching a teenager smile for the first time after having their braces removed is especially rewarding. Modern techniques for straightening teeth mean many people don’t have to suffer with a brace for quite so long as in the past and the results are certainly worth the effort. Sadly, due to changes in the rules, I am not able to do as many cases under the NHS system as I used to do but I am committed to providing very affordable private solutions wherever possible.”
Dr Allan Clark BDS U Glasg
Dr Clark is our longest standing member having first come to the Broad Walk Practice in 1985. He is married to Kate and they live in Earl Sterndale in a house which they have painstakingly restored.
“I was brought up in Glasgow and even though I’ve been here for so long I still have my funny accent. I was attracted to this area because of the outstanding beauty of the town and the surrounding countryside. The warmth and friendliness of the people is what makes each day at work a pleasure.”
